Goat Cloned by Iranian Scientists
April 16, 2009 — Iranian scientists have cloned a goat and plan future experiments they hope will lead to a treatment for stroke patients, the leader of the research said Wednesday. The female goat, named Hana, was born early Wednesday in the city of Isfahan in central Iran, said Dr. Mohammed Hossein Nasr e Isfahani, head of the Royan Research Institute.
“With the birth of Hana, Iran is among five countries in the world cloning a baby goat,” said Isfahani, an embryologist.
In 2006 Iran became the first country in the Middle East to announce it had cloned a sheep. Two and a half years later, that animal is healthy, the institute said.
The effort is part of Iran’s quest to become a regional powerhouse in advanced science and technology by 2025. In particular, Iran is striving for achievements in medicine and in aerospace and nuclear technology.

The cloning of sheep and other animals could lead to advances in medical research, including using cloned animals to produce human antibodies against diseases, Isfahani said.
He said his institute’s main aim in cloning the goat is to produce medicine to be used to treat people who have had strokes.
Iran’s cloning program has won backing from Shiite Muslim religious leaders, who have issued decrees authorizing animal cloning but banning human reproductive cloning. A majority of Iran’s nearly 70 million people are Shiite Muslims.

على فكرة، ايران دولة غنية من نواحي كثيرة، ولها مصادر متنوعة تتعدى بكثير كماً ونوعاً أغلب الدول العربية. وحتى البترول والغاز الطبيعي، من قال ما في؟ مو صايرين دول الخليج وايران في نفس المنطقة؟

أتفق معك بأن الفرد الايراني المتوسط الدخل، يملك أقل بكثير من مثيله العربي الخليجي “خصوصا”. لا لعدم امتلاك ايران لثروات تؤهل زيادة الدخل لسكانها، بل الشكر يعود للأنظمة السابقة، وللحرب وللحصار…
وللحصار مزايا… كما يقال هناك، قد جعلهم الحصار يعتمدون على أنفسهم ويصبحوا من دولة كانت تعول على الغرب في ما قبل الثورة لانتاج “مسدس” إلى دولة منتجة للصواريخ والأقمار الاصطناعية والجوالات والطاقة النووية والاستنساخ… والقائمة تطول في الانجازات العلمية “اليومية”… يكفي للفرد أن يتابع أحد برامج الأخبار في احدى القنوات الايرانية، ليرى سلسلة الانجازات والجوائز العالمية التي تفوز بها بشكل يومي!
لم لا يصبح العرب، وأنا أعتبر جزئياً منهم، مثلهم؟
المشكلة أننا قد لعب بمخوخنا حتى أصبحنا نرى التطور من منظار آخر وبمفهوم آخر. وللتخلف عندنا مفهوم متعجرف آخر قد لقنه إيانا أسيادنا الغرب.
مضحك أمرنا أننا نفتخر بكوننا تابعين للثقافة الغربية الظاهرية “العظمى”، والغرب من ورائنا يضحك علينا، لأننا نسير على الخطة التي رسمها لنا.
خطة التخلف، لكي نبقى نحن خرفان القطيع الذي يسير بتحريك الإبهام من قبلهم…
المشكلة ليست في القدرة ولا الامكانية… ليس هدفي المقارنة بين ايران والعرب من هذه الناحية، فالأمر لا يستدعي هذا. فالناس من الفئة المتوسطة قادرون على التطور والانجاز لو أعطوا المجال لذلك. فحتى لو افترضنا أن العرب من هذه الفئة المتوسطة، فمن المفترض أن يكونوا قادرين على ذلك بشكل طبيعي. فلم لا؟
كما قلت أنت… لا حول ولا قوة إلا بالله العلي العظيم!
